Devcon Improvement Proposals (DIPs) provide a mechanism for collecting collaborative community input on what should be included at the upcoming Devcon.
While we are excited to have a more formal process to hear ideas from the community (roughly inspired by the more decentralized PEP, BIP and EIP processes), this is an experiment, and it should be understood that approval of proposals ultimately lies solely with the Devcon team. DIPs focus on collaboration in the ecosystem between different projects.
The Devcon team also publishes Requests For Proposals (RFPs), which are specific ideas we'd love to see take place for the next Devcon edition. They are available on our forum.

DIP stands for Devcon(nect) Improvement Proposal. A DIP is a proposal put forth by members of the community describing a desired new feature or process to improve Devcon(nect). A DIP should be concise and provide as much information as possible as well as a rationale for the proposal. The DIP author is responsible for making the case for a proposed DIP, and community members will be able to comment on it. It is up to the Devcon(nect) Team to choose which proposals are considered, reviewed, and accepted.

We set up [Planetscape][planetscape], a dystopian escape game for [36C3][36c3] based on the dreadful effects of climate change (CCC did not sponsor the game). Planetscape is organized in 20 chapters, and requires players to solve quests in real life, explore the congress to find hints and interact with people. Planetscape had 20 levels, 254 players, [1300 transactions][ps:transactions] to the smart contract, and 7 teams finished the game and claimed their prize. The players" feedback was heartwarming: "We were about to leave the congress but we found Planetscape, and we stayed longer to play!", "Please make another escape game for the next congress!", "This was the best thing of the congress", "Highlight of this year" ([tweet][ps:highlight]). During the game, players:

Implement an attestation-based ticketing system on Ethereum for Devcon. The solution will use two attestations, a ticket attestation and an email attestation, to verify the authenticity of a ticket holder for both on-chain and off-chain use cases. This system will function independently of Pretix.

The main objective of this DIP is to replicate the experience of using POAP in Devcon 5 (Osaka). This being establishing the process for which every attendee gets one (and only one) POAP redemption code when they show up at the registration desk.

As proposed in DIP-17 (Accepted) the "Climate Friendly Devcon VI" Dapp allows Devcon VI attendees to optionally compensate the carbon emissions associated with the event and their air travel to the event on-chain. Attendees who compensated (at least) their event emissions may mint a POAP as proof of participation. This DIP proposes that holders of this POAP receive priority treatment in the queue for vegetarian lunch on the last day of Devcon VI.

We propose to issue Devconnect co-working space tickets as PCDs, which would enable attendees to plug into a a structured network of ZKP-friendly data. If tickets are issued as proof-carrying data, Devconnect builders and community members will be generate cryptographic proofs about their activity at Devconnect that can be ported across other community platforms—event host websites, Telegram channels, and more.

An interactive game using ZK to prove points while protecting privacy. Attendees collect unique signatures from physical NFC cards, which represent attending events or meeting people, and are visualized as different "Jubjub" monsters. Attendees use ZK to reveal the number & rarity of the Jubjubs they"ve collected, but nothing else.

This proposal aims to make Devcon6 carbon neutral. Event participants may voluntarily contribute to this goal using tooling that estimates their carbon footprint and make a contribution by transferring funds on Polygon. This DIP also aspires to pave the way to making Devcon events carbon neutral in the future and can be considered as a stepping stone to DIP-1 (2020-07-20) and DIP-12 (2020-10-22).

Simply a physical space Community Hub space set up. We would ideally like: - A clear area for standing networking - A seated area for roundtable discussions and relaxation - A few desks - Accommodation for a TV to assist with maintaining discussion topics or presentation slides. - A livestream corner which will connect IRL participants with people at home. We cannot offer an exact layout as we have not been given venue layout information.

This card: - is a hardware wallet with a face value of 29$ - helps user downloads status app, which can be used on the show - allows any dApp developer to develop applications that interface with the card with the tap of the card on the browser Such a dApp could be a redeem dApp, developed by Status, this dApp allowing users to retrieve assets coming preloaded with the card on the wallet of their choice.

Attendee Experience
The "escape room / treasure hunt" format is both a good teaching tool for fundamentals of crypto(graphy), and an exciting conference activity for curious minds of all experience levels. Although technically finite, treasure hunts, escape rooms, and other LARP-y activities are infinite games in spirit, which makes them an appropriate tradition for Ethereum events of all shapes and sizes, including and especially devcon(nect). As a curated narrative experiences, there is a very steep coordination penalty for writing, implementation, and execution of an escape game. At devcon{4,5,6}, the games were designed and executed by a handful of committed game masters working as a single team for the event. This is natural, and in some ways necessary to execute high-quality games within event spacetime. Still, if escape games continue as at devcon(nect), it"s worth interrogating what mechanisms exist that could reduce the frictions of coordination, and allow for more collaborative world-building at bigger scale. Daedalus Industries would like to design and execute a devcon7 escape game, and to experiment with a general framework for "infinite finite gaming" that would allow for some open participation without world-breaking narrative chaos.
